Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz de Dubai visit Enniskillen Gaels

30 students from the French school based in Dubai visited Enniskillen to learn more about our culture, they were welcomed into the home of the Gaels for a day of football,  music, dancing and Irish language.

The visitors were first introduced to the basic skills of football with Gaels coach Fergal Quinn in the Scout hall before venturing out onto the pitch. After learning some basics on the pitch it was onto the clubhouse where Colum Higgins and Aine McGirr led the Irish dancing lesson the visiting students were very enthusiastic and took to the dancefloor without the need for encouragement and threw themselves into it. They were also treated great display of skills from the McNelis Cunningham dancers while traditional music was provided by Aoife O’Donnell and friends.

The dancing was followed by a brief introduction to the Irish language with our Irish Language and Culture Officer Leanne McElroy. Joey Burns of the Enniskillen Hotel was on hand to feed the group with some hearty Irish Stew which went down incredibly well before they headed on their way to see some more of the country.

It was a pleasure to host such a great group of young people who displayed a genuine interest and appreciation of our culture.
