The club have formed a Green Club Committee to improve our environmental impact via the GAA Green Club Programme.
The committee is made up of Tom Brewster, Fiacre O’Donnell, Chris Breen, Paul Entwistle and Brian Hegarty. The immediate aim is to develop a sustainability action plan and adopt a Green Club charter before becoming certified as an official GAA Green Club.
The GAA Green Club Programme, which has been running since January 2021, provides practical support and guidance to GAA clubs in raising awareness and implementing environmentally sustainable actions in their clubs and communities.
We will be looking to implement a range of actions across the areas of Energy, Water, Biodiversity and Travel & Transport to enhance the sustainability of our grounds and games, to engage with our membership in sustainability action and to future-proof our grounds against the impacts and challenges of climate change.
Look out for new initiatives being launched in the coming months as we seek to partner with local schools and community groups to improve the environment for all. If you are interested in getting involved contact any member of the Green Club committee.
