The girls played their last league game on Monday 3rd July away to Irvinestown and came away with their sixth win a row. Finishing top of the league. They will now play Newtownbutler on Monday 10th June, having topped the league they get home advantage and will play in Brewster Park.
The pairing of Cox and Mullally in midfield where very dominant throughout the game with both girl’s registering early scores. It was sharp shooter Aiobheann Maguire in the inside forward line who got the Gaels first goal finishing well after a lovely through ball from the ever impressive Cadhla Stroud.
The Gaels where wasteful in front of goal missing a few gilt edge chances to extend there lead. Irvinestown did work there way into the game registering their first score midway through the first half. This seemed to spark life into the young Gaels who went on to score four points and a goal without reply, Lillie Reilly goal, Mullally, Stroud and Hennessy.
The defence played there part with Halligan, Devine and Stewart keeping the Irvinestown attack at bay. As the game stretched the Gaels used their bench well bringing on Emilia McEnhill & Cara McGuinness who was unlucky not to score with a good effort narrowly going wide.
In the second half the Gaels kept picking off the points with Maguire registering her second goal. A great performance from the whole squad and a well contested game against a resilient Irvinestown.
