The girls continued their winning form with a good performance away against a well coached young Maguiresbridge team.
Right from the off the team showed there intent on using the wind to their advantage. Eve Cox breaking the ball down to Megan Mullally who broke forward playing a neat one two with Caodhla Stroud but unfortunately was wide with her effort. The Gaels pressed the keepers kick out and got the reward with Aiobheann Maguire coolly striking over the black spot.
The Bridge keeper who’s kick outs where excellent all evening played a great ball out to the half back, she was quickly surrounded by the Gaels attack and they came away with the ball Maillie Hennessy slipping the ball to Mullally who fisted over the bar.
There were quick scores to follow from Stroud, Hennessy, Mullally and Susanna Kettyles. The bridge tried to work the ball up the pitch but the Gaels half back line of Devine, Halligan & Gallagher were dominating and swift to build another attack where young Lucy Gallagher getting on the score board.
At this stage the Gaels were on top and pressing for more scores, Poppy Rogers got a neat fisted point after a great through ball from Mullally. Saoirse Conway who was only on, struck a lovely goal (more like a drill from the ball range) placing the ball beyond the keeper. This brought the the half to a close.
The second half against the wind the Gaels took a few minutes to adjust to the conditions and a much more determined Bridge who had come out strong in the second half registering there second score early in the half. Emilia McEnhill and Emma Wilson were putting in a great effort to stop the bridge building momentum. The forward line of Ciarrai Coalter, Lauren Young and Cara McGuninness were showing well for the ball and troubling the bridge back line.
Kettyles got another point followed by Devine and Stroud. From a bridge kick out and a swift pass up field lthere attack where bearing down on goal only for the ever impressive Caithlán Henderson in goal sweeping up and coming out of defence with the ball, showing great composure and distribution, releasing Tori Reid who played a great ball to Evanna McCreesh who carried the ball well using Gallagher and Hennessy before slotting over the bar.
