Enniskillen Gaels 1-07 Tempo Maguires 1-13

Our seniors lost their opening league game of the season, going down 1-07 to 1-13 to Tempo at Brewster Park on Sunday.

The Gaels had started the game brightly but missed a number of early chances and it was a more clinical Tempo side who opened the scoring with two points from Niall McCusker.

Ryan McCluskey got the Gaels first point of the game and although Daryl Keenan answered with a point from a free, scores from Paul Gunn and Conor Watson had the sides level at the end of the first quarter.

Keenan was a key figure for Tempo and he landed the next three score of the contest, including two points from play, to make it 0-03 to 0-06.

A Brian McAleer free and a Conor McAleer point from play closed the gap back to one point but it was the away side who had the last say of the half as Damien Kelly popped over a point to leave it 0-05 to 0-07 at the break.

Tempo dominated matters over the opening 20 minutes of the second half as they hit six unanswered points through Keenan, Paddy Fee, Liam Donoghue and Aidan Breen to move into a 0-05 to 0-13 advantage.

The Gaels though responded late on and a Conall Quinn point was followed by a converted penalty by Ciaran Smith penalty to cut the gap back to four points.

Michael Dooris then followed up with a further point for Enniskillen but the game was put to bed late on as a Tempo counter-attack resulted in a Daryl Keenan goal to leave it 1-07 to 1-13 at the finish.
